Summary
Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Rushmoor and are not the council. About us
The annual meeting of the Borough of Rushmoor Council was scheduled to address the election of the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor, as well as the appointment of the Council Leader. The meeting also included a vote of thanks for the outgoing Mayor and Mayoress, and the confirmation of previous minutes.
Election of the Mayor
The council was scheduled to elect Councillor Peter James Cullum as the Mayor of the Borough, a position he would hold until the Annual Meeting in 2027. Upon his election, he was expected to make his Declaration of Acceptance of Office, as required by Section 83 of the Local Government Act, 1972. The Mayor would then address the meeting and signify the appointment of Mrs Ann Cullum as Mayoress.
Vote of Thanks
A vote of thanks was scheduled to record the council's appreciation for the service rendered by Councillor Calum Stewart as Mayor and Mrs Shani Stewart as Mayoress during the 2025/26 Municipal Year. It was planned that an illuminated scroll and a Past Mayor's Badge would be presented to Councillor Stewart, and a Past Mayoress' Badge to Mrs Shani Stewart.
Election of the Deputy Mayor
The agenda indicated that the election of the Deputy Mayor was also scheduled to take place.
Returning Officer's Report
The council was set to receive the Returning Officer's Report, which would detail the names of the individuals elected as Borough Councillors following the elections held on 7th May 2026.
Appointment of the Leader of the Council
