The Eyemouth Common Good Fund Sub-Committee met on Monday 8 June 2026 to review the fund's financial performance and approve the budget for the upcoming financial year. The committee noted the financial figures for the year ending 31 March 2026 and approved the draft budget for 2026-27.

Monitoring Report and Budget Approval

The sub-committee received a monitoring report detailing the actual and forecasted expenditure for the Trust for the financial year ending 31 March 2026, along with high-level forecasts for the next two years. Catriona Ewen, from Finance, presented the report, highlighting that there was minimal activity within the Common Good Fund. Income for the year consisted of £200 in interest on the cash balance held with Scottish Borders Council and £64 in repair costs for a disabled alarm.

The report also detailed non-cash expenditure, including a depreciation allocation against properties amounting to £48,475. This resulted in a net deficit for accounting purposes of £48,339. Catriona Ewen noted an error in the report regarding brackets around a number in Appendix 2, which she committed to correcting.

The recommendations presented were to note the figures and information within the report and to approve the draft budget for 2026-27. Councillor Aileen Orr, Chair of the Eyemouth Common Good Fund Sub-Committee, thanked Catriona Ewen for her presentation. William Mohieddeen, who was assisting with the technical aspects of the meeting, confirmed that the recommendations were to note the figures and approve the draft budget, which was then agreed by the committee.

The meeting also included the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting held on 9 June 2025. The sub-committee confirmed that there were no other items previously circulated or urgent items to be discussed.

The Eyemouth Common Good Fund Sub-Committee is responsible for overseeing the financial management of assets and funds designated for the benefit of the Eyemouth community. The Common Good Fund is a historical endowment, and its sub-committee ensures that its resources are managed effectively and in line with its charitable objectives.
