The Buckinghamshire Council Licensing (Premises) Sub-Committee met on Thursday 07 May 2026 to consider an application for a new premises licence for Have I Got Brews For You
at 16 Cornwall Place, Buckingham. The committee granted the licence, subject to mandatory conditions and additional conditions.
Application for a New Premises Licence at 16 Cornwall Place, Buckingham
The primary focus of the meeting was the application for a new premises licence for Have I Got Brews For You,
a proposed craft beer bar at 16 Cornwall Place, Buckingham. The applicant, Have I Got Brews For You 3 Limited, sought permission to sell alcohol for both on and off-site consumption from Monday to Thursday between 12pm and midnight, Friday and Saturday between 12pm and 1am, and Sunday between 12pm and 11pm.
During the consultation period, four objections were received from local residents, primarily concerning the licensing objectives of prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of public nuisance, and protection of children from harm. Key concerns raised by objectors included potential increases in anti-social behaviour due to late operating hours, noise from customers, and the impact on local children.
The applicant, Andrew Bodman, presented his case, emphasizing that Have I Got Brews For You
is not a typical pub but a community-focused venue offering premium craft beers to a demographic of patrons aged 30 and over. He highlighted that his other venues in Towcester and Stony Stratford have operated without significant issues and that he is committed to upholding the four licensing objectives. Mr. Bodman addressed specific concerns, stating that the proposed rear entrance is not a functional door and that he was willing to reduce the Friday and Saturday closing times to midnight. He also confirmed the presence of CCTV in all his venues and the operation of a Challenge 21
policy.
Following extensive discussion and questioning, the subcommittee agreed to grant the premises licence. The decision was influenced by the applicant's willingness to amend their operating schedule and offer additional conditions. These included the provision of a designated smoking area at the rear of the premises, the display of notices encouraging patrons to be mindful of residents when leaving, and the implementation of a Challenge 21
policy. The subcommittee also noted the applicant's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on disorderly behaviour and the installation of CCTV.
The subcommittee did not deem soundproofing necessary, citing that there was no evidence to suggest that the licensing objectives could not be properly managed on the proposed operating schedule and there had been no objection from Environmental Health nor the Police. The subcommittee also considered the human rights implications of their decision, balancing the rights of the applicant with those of the local residents. The final decision was to grant the licence with the agreed-upon conditions, which were detailed in the decision notice.
