Consideration of LGA Exemption Notice
The committee also reviewed an exemption notice under the Local Government Act (LGA). The notice pertains to a temporary exemption for a local business from certain licensing requirements due to exceptional circumstances. The business, Bath City Tours,
requested the exemption to accommodate an influx of tourists during a major local event.
After a thorough discussion, the committee granted the exemption, recognising the economic benefits it could bring to the area. However, they emphasised the need for close monitoring to ensure compliance with other regulatory standards.
Councillor Emily Brown remarked, While we understand the need for flexibility in exceptional circumstances, it is crucial that we maintain rigorous oversight to protect public safety and uphold our licensing standards.
