The General Purposes Committee of Greenwich Council met on Tuesday 30 June 2026 to approve appointments to various member-level and outside bodies for the 2026-27 municipal year. The committee confirmed the appointments of several councillors to internal committees and appointed individuals to external organisations.

Appointments to Member-Level Bodies for 2026-27

The committee approved a series of appointments to various member-level bodies for the upcoming municipal year. Councillor Jane Dickenson was appointed to the Pension Fund and Investment Panel¹, replacing Councillor Sam Littlewood. Councillor Nathan Baffour-Awauh took up a position on the Licensing Committee, succeeding Councillor Elizabeth Ige. Councillor Lewis Hurst was appointed to the Audit and Risk Management Panel, replacing Councillor Averil Lekau. Councillor Sam Littlewood was appointed to the Children & Young People Scrutiny Panel, also replacing Councillor Averil Lekau. Furthermore, Councillor Averil Lekau was appointed to both the Health & Social Care Scrutiny Panel and the Housing & Neighbourhoods Scrutiny Panel, replacing Councillor Jeremy Fraser and Councillor Raja Zeeshan respectively. These appointments were made in accordance with the wishes of the relevant political group, as outlined in the Council's Constitution.

Appointments to Vacancies Outside Bodies for 2026-27

The committee also approved appointments to external organisations. Chris Strong was appointed to the Joan Roan Foundation, replacing Councillor Christine St Matthew-Daniel. Additionally, Simon Peirce, Monica Grinfield, and Denise Fowler were appointed to the Eltham United Charities, filling the vacancies left by Councillor Jane Dickenson, Dr Norah Chase, and Councillor Charlie Davis. These appointments ensure the Council maintains representation on these outside bodies.
