The Licensing Act Sub Committee of Cornwall Council met on Wednesday 7 October 2026 and made a significant decision regarding a premises licence. The committee revoked the licence for Chapel an Gansblydhen in Bodmin due to its association with serious crime. A separate review for Central Grill 2 in Truro was deemed unnecessary at this time.
Chapel an Gansblydhen Premises Licence Revoked
The Sub Committee revoked the premises licence for Chapel an Gansblydhen, located at Fore Street, Bodmin, PL31 2HR. This decision was made under section 53C of the Licensing Act 2003 following an expedited summary review initiated by Devon & Cornwall Police. The review was prompted by the premises being associated with serious crime. The licence was revoked, and its suspension was continued pending the revocation taking effect, in the interest of upholding the licensing objectives.
Central Grill 2 Review Deemed Unnecessary
A review of the premises licence for Central Grill 2, at 9 Calenick Street, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 2SF, was scheduled. However, due to a Closure Order dated 16 September 2026 being set aside by the Magistrates Court on 2 October 2026, the Sub Committee determined that there was no longer a requirement to hold a review of the premises licence at this time.
