The Grants Sub-Board of Gosport Council convened on 27 June 2024 to discuss various funding applications and updates on previous awards. Key decisions included the approval of grants for community projects, heritage initiatives, and events, with a focus on supporting local organisations and enhancing community engagement.

Community Grant Fund Applications

Gosport Allotment Holders and Gardeners Association

Members agreed to award £4,000, contingent upon successful planning permission being obtained. The planning permission was still pending.

Rowner Bowling Club

A grant of £4,000 was awarded as a contribution toward a new perimeter fence, following the resolution of outstanding queries.

Willow Incredible Garden

The project, which aims to create an outdoor learning space, was awarded £5,000. Members requested more details about the proposed structure to determine if planning permission was required.

Hub4Stuff

This volunteer-run organisation, which redistributes unwanted furniture and household goods, was awarded £1,500. The funds will also cover delivery van costs.

Lee Rangers Football Club

The club, known for its well-organised teams from youth to adulthood, received a grant of £1,000.

Green Dragon Football Club

The club, which has grown since its inception in 2010, was awarded £2,000 for team jackets and other equipment to foster team spirit and pride.

Gosport Cricket Club

A grant of £3,042 was awarded to fund the purchase of two sightscreens, essential for the club's participation in the Southern Cricket League.

GADSAD

The organisation, which provides sporting activities for the disabled, received £4,000 to hire a minibus and replace sports equipment.

The Ritz at St Vincent

The volunteer-run cinema, facing increased costs, was awarded £1,221 to support its screenings.

Gosport Community Cinema

The cinema, which aims to combat social isolation, was awarded £4,522 to cover running costs and attract additional funding.

Bridgemary Rowner and Woodcot Community Association

A grant of £5,000 was awarded, subject to confirmation of the terms of the underlease, to replace front doors and decorate the lobby area.

Heritage Fund Applications

The D-Day Fellowship

A pledge of £5,000 was made, conditional on planning permission and the rest of the project costs being raised. The grant aims to kickstart fundraising for a memorial project.

Nest & Anchor Events Limited - Anchored in Gosport Project

The application was deferred for further consideration. The project aims to connect independent businesses and increase footfall through a magazine, digital platform, and exhibition.

Awards Update from Previous Boards

An update was provided on changes to the grants guidance and forms, effective from the current round, to clarify the process for applicants and aid administration. The Diving Museum's interim report was shared, noting the project's progress and the appreciation for the grant towards the £860,000 project to enhance No2 Battery.
