The County Council of Hertsmere held an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, 25 June 2024, where they appointed Angie Ridgwell as the new Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service. The council also paid tribute to the late David Beatty, a former County Councillor and Leader of the Council.
Appointment of Chief Executive/Head of Paid Service

This decision followed the recommendations of the Employment Committee, which met on 5 June 2024. The motion was moved by Councillor R M Roberts and seconded by Councillor F Thomson. The council agreed that the starting date for Ms Ridgwell would be determined by the Director of Human Resources in consultation with the Chairman of the Employment Committee. The appointment is expected to take effect in September 2024. The full details of the appointment can be found in the Appointment of Chief Executive - Head of Paid Service document.
Tribute to David Beatty
The Chairman announced the passing of David Beatty, a former County Councillor and Leader of the Council, who died at the age of 91. The council stood in silence for a few moments to honour his memory. Formal tributes will be made at the July Council meeting when a full complement of members and David Beatty's family are expected to attend. More information on this announcement is available in the Chairman's Letter.
