This meeting was called to discuss the award of contracts for Lot 2 of Hackney Council’s General Building Contract. The meeting was called at short notice due to concerns that waiting for the next scheduled meeting would lead to unacceptable delays and a gap in service.

Award of Contract 2A and 2B of the General Building Contract

The Committee were provided with a report on the outcome of the procurement process for Contract 2A and Contract 2B of the General Building Contract.

The report, prepared by Mohammad Rahman, an officer in the Climate, Homes and Economy directorate, explains that:

This is an award report for Lot 2 of General Building Contract. CPIC approved the contract award report for Lot 1 in March 2024 and Lot 2 is awaiting approval. The moderation was completed on the 11th of June 2024. The award report was drafted then onwards. The CPIC meeting date is for the 15th of July 2024. This award report is to award Contract 2A and Contract 2B to the successful bidders. If a decision on the General Building Contract 2 award of contract is not taken at CPIC at its meeting on 15 July 2024, the next scheduled meeting is not until 2 September 2024. This brings an unacceptable risk of a delay in the timeline and mobilisation of new contractors. The contract with the incumbent contractor has expired and Single Tender Actions have been sought to provide capacity to the service area. Any further delays will result in a gap in service.

The report contains exempt information relating to the financial or business affairs of bidders for the contract, as per Paragraph 3 Part 1 of schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.
