Appointment of Group Director Finance & Corporate Resources (Section 151 Officer)
The committee was scheduled to move into private session to discuss the appointment of a Group Director Finance & Corporate Resources (Section 151 Officer). The report considered by the committee was exempt from publication because it contained information relating to an individual's employment.
Note from the Governance Team Leader: Item 7 - 8 allows for the consideration of exempt information as set out in the report.
The Local Government Act 19721 allows councils to withhold information from the public in certain circumstances. In this case, the council withheld the report because it contained information relating to an individual's employment or appointment, which is a circumstance in which the law permits the council to withhold information.

The Local Government Act 1972 is a law that sets out how local government works in England and Wales. It was passed by the UK Parliament in 1972 and came into force in 1974. The law created a two-tier system of local government, with county councils responsible for strategic services such as education and social services, and district councils responsible for local services such as rubbish collection and planning. ↩
