Revised Statement of Licensing Policy
Kim Evans, the Women’s Team Leader, presented the revised statement of licensing policy. This policy is mandated by Section 5 of the Licensing Act, which requires local authorities to review and publish their licensing policies every five years. The current policy period ends in December 2024. Evans explained that the proposed changes were based on initial consultations with responsible authorities and that the consultation period had recently closed with around 190 responses.
Evans noted, The consultation responses will be reported in court to the policy committee, who will make the recommendations to the full council as to what version of the policy goes forward for adoption.
The committee was asked to review the policy to ensure it met their needs as decision-makers. After a brief discussion, the committee voted unanimously to approve the revised statement of licensing policy. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
The committee approved the minutes of the previous meetings held on 4 March 2024, and the minutes of the Licensing Act Sub-Committee meetings held on 26 March 2024, 16 April 2024, and 25 April 2024.
Apologies and Declarations of Interest
Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Cail Boellman and Councillor Leslie Tseman. There was a declaration of interest from a member who is a trustee of the Pecos Dominic and Social Club in Macklesteel, a licensed premises.
