Longlisting for the Post of Director of Public Realm

The Appointments Sub-Committee was scheduled to consider a report on the longlisting of candidates for the post of Director of Public Realm.

The report, prepared by Penna, a recruitment consultancy, contains a proposed longlist of candidates for the role. The report also recommends that the sub-committee agree to invite the longlisted candidates for an interview.

This meeting follows the vacation of the post in January 2024. The role has been filled on an interim basis since then. The recruitment process began in December 2024, concluding on January 30, 2025.

The position was advertised extensively via the council’s website https://recruitment.towerhamlets.gov.uk/ , the recruitment consultants website Penna Exec Search, the MJ and social media, including LinkedIn.

A targeted executive search was also undertaken by Penna.

Appendix 1 contains the reports for all candidates, including CVs and supporting statements.

The meeting was also scheduled to elect Councillor Kabir Ahmed or Councillor Maium Talukdar as chair of the sub-committee for the remainder of the recruitment process.
