The meeting was brief and focused primarily on the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023. The council discussed and approved several measures related to social housing regulation and tenant satisfaction.
Social Housing Regulation Act 2023
Maddy presented the main report, highlighting the new regulations under the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023. The council was asked to:
- Note the new regulation.
- Approve the council's progress in meeting new legislative requirements.
- Support and agree on the revised policy included in the report.
- Confirm the publication of tenant satisfaction measures, which also include landlord measures.
The council needs to report this information back to the government by June 30th and publish it on their website, as well as communicate it directly to tenants.
IT System Investment
Keith raised a concern about the need for capital investment in IT, specifically questioning whether John Palmer had been contacted regarding potential problems with the current system. Maddy explained that the current housing management system lacks the capability to record the diverse information required by the new regulations. This necessitates workarounds and a better system to meet tenants' needs effectively.
