Sainsbury's Supermarkets Limited applied for a new alcohol licence at their supermarket at 25-27 Tranquil Vale, Blackheath SE3 0BU. The application was for the sale of alcohol off the premises between the hours of 7am and 11pm, seven days a week.
One objection from a member of the public was received. The objector raised concerns about the potential for the licence to lead to increased street drinking and antisocial behaviour in the area, citing All Saints Church as a place where this is already a problem. They explained that they are concerned about the safety of their child as a result of broken glass, and suggested that the licence would contribute to the national trend of increasing alcohol related deaths.
The committee decided to grant the application in full. They did not provide any reasons for making this decision in the meeting minutes.
