Summary
This meeting of the Passenger Transport Liaison Group was scheduled to discuss a range of passenger transport issues, but was particularly focussed on providing updates on a number of previously discussed topics. There were also a number of items on the agenda relating to bus and train services in the borough.
Train Services
A number of updates about train services were scheduled to be provided at the meeting.
Wandsworth Town Station
Network Rail were scheduled to provide an update on their plans to provide step-free access and a second entrance at Wandsworth Town Station.
The meeting was also scheduled to discuss the frequency of trains at Wandsworth Town Station.
Queenstown Road Station
Network Rail were scheduled to provide an update on the construction of the new second entrance at Queenstown Road Station.
Arterio Trains
South Western Railway were scheduled to provide an update on their ongoing rollout of new Arterio trains.
Battersea Park Station
The meeting was scheduled to receive a report about a proposal to make improvements to Battersea Park Station
a preferred design had been selected which included a new entrance to the site’s north near Prince Wales Drive, although no changes would be made to the current entrance.
The report notes that the station is ineligible for funding through the Department for Transport's ‘Access for All’ scheme, but suggests that funding could be requested through the Network Rail Enhancement Programme.
Waterloo Station
Network Rail were scheduled to provide an update on the proposed redevelopment of Waterloo Station.
since the initial announcement of the project, work had been underway to breakdown aspirations both short and long term and which might be feasible to progress with for improvements, and examples were given such as the installation of artwork by Victory Arch and expanded green infrastructure and publicly accessible spaces.
Underground Services
Step-Free Access
Transport for London were scheduled to provide an update on proposals to provide step-free access at Colliers Wood and Tooting Broadway Underground stations.
The report notes that
TfL would likely only be able to progress one of the two aforementioned stations because of budgetary considerations
and that the decision on which station would be taken forward would be
based on technical factors such as costs, engineering complexities, and land acquisition requirements
Balham Station
Transport for London were scheduled to provide an update about flooding at Balham Station.
Bus Services
A number of items relating to bus services in the borough were scheduled for discussion.
Bus Route 315
Transport for London were scheduled to provide an update on the extension of the 315 bus route into the Springfield Hospital development.
Bus Routes 14, 430 and 436
Transport for London were scheduled to provide an update on the performance of bus routes 14, 430 and 436.
Bus Routes 39, 93 and 493
Transport for London were scheduled to provide an update on the performance of bus routes 39, 93 and 493.
Longley Road
There was scheduled to be a discussion about the Longley Road bus stand.
Passenger Safety
The meeting was scheduled to discuss public transport passenger safety.
The meeting was also scheduled to receive an update on crime statistics for Clapham Junction, Battersea Power Station, Tooting Broadway and Balham stations.
