Summary
The Licensing Sub Committee E of Hackney Council met to consider licensing applications for three premises, as well as to note the procedure for hearings, and consider minutes from a previous meeting. The Public reports pack included applications for premises licences, and temporary event notices. It is important to note that this is only a summary of the report pack and does not reflect any actual discussions or decisions made during the meeting.
Licensing Applications
The committee was scheduled to review three premises licence applications:
The Corner Shop, 123 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6JE
An application was submitted by Shoreditch 123 Limited for The Corner Shop, 123 Shoreditch High Street, seeking authorisation for:
- Films: Monday to Sunday
- Live Music: Monday to Sunday
- Recorded Music: Monday to Sunday
- Performance of Dance: Monday to Sunday
- Anything of a similar description: Monday to Sunday
- Supply of Alcohol (On-sales): Monday to Sunday
- Supply of Alcohol (Off-sales): Monday to Sunday
- Late Night Refreshment: Monday to Sunday
The report pack notes that the premises already holds existing premises licences. The Metropolitan Police Service submitted a representation against the application on the grounds of:
- the prevention of crime and disorder
- public safety
- the prevention of public nuisance
The police requested that the sub-committee refuse this application, but if they were minded to grant any additional hours, they asked the Sub-Committee to consider a condition mandating the use of an ID Scanner device at the entry.
Church of St Peter De Beauvoir Town, Northchurch Terrace, London N1 4DA
The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Peter De Beauvoir Town applied for a premises licence for Church of St Peter De Beauvoir Town, Northchurch Terrace, London N1 4DA to authorise:
- Plays: Monday to Sunday 15:00-22:30
- Films: Monday to Sunday 15:00-22:30
- Live Music: Monday to Sunday 15:00-22:30
- Recorded Music: Monday to Sunday 15:00-22:30
- Performance of Dance: Monday to Sunday 15:00-22:30
- Supply of Alcohol (On and Off): Monday to Sunday 12:00-22:30
The report pack stated that the premises is not currently licensed under the Licensing Act 2003, but has given a number of temporary event notices in the last twelve months.
Representations were received from:
- Environmental Health Authority (Environmental Protection) on the grounds of the prevention of public nuisance. This representation was later withdrawn based on agreed conditions.
- The Metropolitan Police on the grounds of the prevention of crime and disorder and the prevention of public nuisance.
- One representation was received from local residents on the grounds of the prevention of public nuisance.
The Midyeci, 501-505 Kingsland Road, London, E8 4AU
Seyhan Hatipoglu applied for a premises licence for The Midyeci, 501-505 Kingsland Road, London, E8 4AU to authorise:
- Live Music: Monday to Saturday 12:00-23:00, Sunday 12:00-22:00
- Recorded Music: Monday to Saturday 12:00-23:00, Sunday 12:00-22:00
- Supply of Alcohol (On and Off-sales): Monday to Saturday 12:00-22:30, Sunday 12:00-21:30
The report pack notes that the premises licence was granted for 505 Kingsland Road by the Licensing Sub-Committee on 5 October 2021.
Representations were received from:
- Environmental Health Authority (Environmental Enforcement). This representation was later withdrawn based on agreed conditions.
- Two representations were received from local residents on the grounds of the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of public nuisance and the protection of children from harm.
Temporary Event Notices
The committee was also scheduled to consider a report regarding a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) at 1 Birkbeck Mews. The report pack included a report on a TEN submitted by Recycle Vinyl for 1 Birkbeck Mews, for an event on 5 April 2025 from 11:00 to 23:00, with the provision of recorded music and the sale of alcohol. A counter notice was issued by the council, as the number of permitted TENs for the premises had been exceeded.
Other Matters
The committee was also scheduled to:
- Elect a chair for the meeting.
- Note the Licensing Sub-Committee Hearing Procedure.
- Approve the minutes of the previous meeting held on 4 March 2025.
