The Appointments Sub Committee met to interview candidates for the position of Director of Homelessness and Housing Options, a role that has been filled on an interim basis since August 2024. The agenda also included the confirmation of minutes from a previous meeting. Director of Homelessness and Housing Options

The main item on the agenda was the interviewing of candidates for the role of Director of Homelessness and Housing Options.

According to the report pack, the Appointments Sub Committee was asked to:

• Interview and assess each candidate.
• Determine which candidate, if any, should be offered the post.
• Note that the Executive would be given 48 hours to comment on the proposed appointment, and the Sub-Committee may be required to meet again to consider any negative feedback before a final appointment is made.

The report pack included a shortlist report from Penna, the recruitment consultants, with details of the candidates. The report pack also included the job description for the role, which stated that the Director of Housing Options and Homelessness would:

Provide the strategic and operational leadership to achieve excellence in the delivery of our homelessness services, ensuring that resources are delivering value for money-outcomes.

The Director would be responsible for homelessness prevention strategies, implementing the homelessness strategy, managing services, and providing joint housing support packages with Adult Social Care and Children and Young Peoples Directorates.

The report pack also outlined the process for making the appointment. If the Appointments Sub-Committee agreed on a suitable candidate, the Mayor and each member of the Executive would be informed of the provisional intention to make an offer. They would then have two days to raise any objections. If an objection was received, the Appointments Sub-Committee would be required to reconvene to consider it.
