The Senior Remuneration Sub-Committee was scheduled to meet on Thursday, 17 July 2025, to discuss several items, including senior management group volunteering activities, registers of interest, and performance outcomes for 2024/25. The meeting was also scheduled to cover the approval of minutes from a previous meeting and a review of chief officer accommodation.
Senior Management Group (SMG) Volunteering Activities and Registers of Interest
The sub-committee was scheduled to receive a report from Alison Littlewood, Executive Director and Chief People Officer, regarding the Senior Management Group's (SMG) volunteering activities and register of interest. The report was prepared in response to a request from members of the Corporate Services Committee on 7 May for more information on the SMG's declared register of interest.
The report noted that officers within the SMG can volunteer for up to 2 days or 14 hours per year, adjusted pro rata for part-time officers. Additionally, SMG officers are required to complete a Register of Interest form annually, declaring any involvement and benefits derived by the City Corporation, the approximate time spent on outside paid work and interests, as well as outside voluntary work and interests affecting their working life. Even if there are no declarations to make, a nil return must be submitted. Any new declarations made between annual reviews must be declared at the earliest opportunity.
A review of the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies was scheduled to take place before the end of the calendar year, including an assessment of SMG Declarations and Register of Interests, to provide guidance on which activities should be disclosed. The updated policies were scheduled to be reported to the Committee upon completion later in the year.
