June 24, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Southern Planning Committee of Shropshire Council scheduled a meeting to discuss several planning applications, appeals, and other related matters. The agenda included applications for residential development, quarry variations, nature reserve improvements, and property extensions. Additionally, the committee was expected to review a schedule of appeals and decisions.
Planning Applications
Longville in the Dale: An outline application for the erection of nine dwellings south-west of Home Farm was included in the agenda. The proposed development included a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom homes, with two affordable homes. However, the planning officer recommended refusal due to concerns about its unsustainable location, impact on the Shropshire Hills National Landscape1, protected trees, and insufficient information regarding highway safety and biodiversity net gain.
Much Wenlock: A report pack included a discussion on a variation of conditions for Shadwell Quarry. The application sought to vary conditions related to a 2009 planning permission for holiday chalets, access tracks, a reception/office building, a recreational and educational building for diving, and associated infrastructure. The proposed changes included an alternative layout plan and the removal of a condition related to offsite traffic calming measures and public toilet provision. The planning officer recommended granting permission subject to conditions.
Minsterley: The committee was scheduled to discuss an application concerning Hope Valley Nature Reserve. The application sought permission for widening the existing vehicular access, enlarging the parking/turning area, and forming a forestry track, including associated culverting of ditches. The planning officer recommended granting permission subject to conditions and delegated authority to finalise Biodiversity Net Gain arrangements.
Wistanstow: The agenda included a report pack for the erection of a single-storey side extension, formation of a doorway, and porch to the front elevation of 2 Glebe Cottages. The planning officer recommended granting permission subject to conditions.
