Hackney Integrated Community Equipment Service

The meeting was convened to discuss a General Exception Notice concerning the Hackney Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES). According to the Public Reports Pack, Helen Woodland, Group Director of Adults, Health & Integration, was scheduled to make a decision on the matter.

The ICES is described as:

a key preventative service, enabling older and disabled people, including children with disabilities to remain living independently. The service is responsible for delivering, maintaining, collecting, and recycling equipment that supports Hackney residents' daily living.

The service provides equipment to people's homes, and to schools for children and young people with a disability.

The reason for the General Exception Notice was that the current supplier had declared insolvency. According to the report pack, this situation risked leaving the London Borough of Hackney without a very important service provision.

A General Exception Notice is required when a decision needs to be made with less than 28 days' notice, in accordance with Regulation 10 of The Local Authority (Executive Authority) (Meeting and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012.
