The Committee were scheduled to receive an impact report from Christ's Hospital, an independent co-educational boarding school with a charitable mission to provide a nurturing, transformative education for young people from all backgrounds
.
The report states that the school provided £23 million in means-tested bursary support in the past year, more than any other organisation in the UK. Of the 874 students, 672 received a bursary averaging 85% remission of fees, and 114 paid no fees at all.
The report also highlights that Christ's Hospital was named Independent School of the Year 2024, and also won first place in the Performing Arts category.
The report mentions the establishment of the Lord Mayor's Royal Mathematical School Scholarship programme in collaboration with the Lord Mayor of London, Professor Michael Mainelli1.
With donations totalling over £800,000 so far, two in-perpetuity RMS Scholarships have already been established with a third targeted for 2025. We are immensely grateful to all our supporters, including the Maurice Upperton Foundation and nine livery companies of the City of London.
The report also notes the launch of the Expeditionary Education programme, supported by over £2.2 million in donations, which encourages students to participate in outdoor adventure activities. The Committee were scheduled to hear that a £24,000 grant from the City of London Corporation will fund a series of two-day camps in 2025 for 210 students from Galleywall Primary School and Redriff Primary School.
The report also covers the school's outreach and engagement with local primary schools, including hosting maths challenges, drama productions, cross country events, and other learning opportunities.
