The extension of the CCTV Maintenance Contract, Cabinet Member Signing - Wednesday, 5th November, 2025 11.30 am
November 5, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
In a brief meeting, Councillor Ajda Ovat, Cabinet Member for Communities, approved the extension of the CCTV maintenance contract to ensure continuous service and noted a reminder about filming at meetings. The council extended the contract with TYCO Fire & Integrated Solutions (UK) Limited t/a TYCO Integrated Fire & Security [TYCO] for CCTV maintenance for one year, allocating up to £900,000 for the extension.
CCTV Maintenance Contract Extension
The council has extended the contract for CCTV maintenance with TYCO for one year, from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026, with a budget of up to £900,000, bringing the total contract value to £2,736,668. This decision, made under Contract Standing Order (CSO) 18.02.2 and CSO 2.01(d), allows for continuous maintenance of the council's CCTV equipment. Costs will be divided between the parking service and community safety, with community safety covering 25% of the costs, as it did the previous year.
The CCTV equipment covered by this contract includes:
- CCTV infrastructure equipment servers in River Park House
- Equipment in the CCTV control room in Alexandra House
- Community safety cameras
- Traffic enforcement cameras
- School Streets cameras
The council decided to extend the contract to align its expiry with another contract for CCTV control room equipment and cameras, which ends in February 2027. The council believes that combining the two contracts into one integrated contract will ensure efficiencies and value for money.
Two alternative options were considered:
- Doing nothing, which was rejected because it would risk infrastructure failure and loss of CCTV capability, leading to a loss of public confidence, increased crime, and traffic management issues.
- Re-procuring the contract immediately, which was also rejected because it would result in a period without CCTV maintenance and undermine the plan to combine the supply and maintenance of CCTV equipment under one contract.
The council also secured some savings on the maintenance contract for the next 12 months, including a price freeze and no RPI uplift, representing a saving of £35,257.
The council's CCTV operation contributes to the 'Safer Haringey' theme of the Corporate Delivery Plan, specifically the Secure and supported communities
outcome area. The Public reports pack states that CCTV helps to detect and deter crime, reduces fear of crime, and helps maintain a secure and safe environment for all community members. The traffic enforcement operation supports safe streets, active travel, and better air quality, contributing to the council's climate emergency response.
The Public reports pack includes a list of all of the CCTV cameras in the borough.
