The Safeguarding and Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee are scheduled to discuss the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board annual report, and the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Alternative Provision Strategy 2026 - 2029. The committee will also discuss its work programme for the coming year.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Alternative Provision (AP) Strategy
The committee is scheduled to discuss the proposed Special Educational Needs Disabilities SEND Alternative Provision AP Strategy 2026 - 2029. Alternative provision1 is education outside of mainstream schools for pupils who, because of exclusion, illness or other reasons, cannot attend a mainstream school.
The SEND AP Strategy outlines the local authority’s strategic vision and priorities for improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND2 who require alternative provision. The strategy is scheduled to be discussed alongside two appendices:

- Staffordshire's SEND AP Strategy Community Impact Assessment
Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board (SSASPB) Annual Report
The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board 3's annual report is scheduled to be presented to the committee. The SSASPB aims to ensure that adults at risk of abuse or neglect receive the support they need. The annual report provides an overview of the board's activities and achievements over the past year. The SSASPB Annual Report is scheduled to be discussed alongside Appendix 1 - Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board SSASPB Annual R.
Work Programme 2025/26
The committee is scheduled to review its Work Programme 2025/26, which sets out the topics it intends to focus on over the coming year.
