The Recruitment Panel of Derbyshire Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 19 November 2025. During the meeting, the panel will appoint a chairman and conduct interviews for the position of Fixed Term Chief Executive. The public is likely to be excluded from the meeting during the interviews.
Fixed Term Chief Executive Recruitment
The main purpose of the meeting is to conduct interviews for the post of Fixed Term Chief Executive. According to the agenda, the public will be excluded from this part of the meeting because it is believed that:
in view of the nature of the business, that if members of the public were present exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 would be disclosed to them and the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.
The Local Government Act 1972 contains the law that governs the meetings of local councils in the UK. Schedule 12A defines the categories of information that are considered exempt and can be used as a reason to exclude the public from a meeting. Paragraph 1 relates to information about an individual, and paragraph 3 relates to financial or business affairs.
