Summary
The Corsham Area Board was scheduled to meet to discuss local priority updates, area board grant funding requests, and updates from partners and community representatives. The board was also due to receive updates on rights of way and the Local Highways and Footpath Improvement Group (LHFIG).
Area Board Grant Funding Requests
The Corsham Area Board was scheduled to consider grant applications for three projects. The remaining budget for community area grants was £1,231.00, for older and vulnerable people grants was £5,400.00, and for youth grants was £8,636.00.
- Heritage Trails Project - A request for £974.25 from the Heritage Trails Project towards printing costs. The project aims to encourage the local community and visitors to appreciate the historical environment and experience the natural beauty of the North Wiltshire countryside. According to the Corsham Area Board Grant Applications report, the project has already delivered eight waymarked trails and had four print runs of the trail leaflets.
- Youth Piano Access - The Pound Arts Trust requested £3,944.00 for youth piano access. The funding would be used to purchase a grand piano and to provide a pilot bursary scheme for young people in economic need to learn the piano. The report stated that the organisation that currently provides the piano is closing down and has offered the Pound Arts Trust the opportunity to purchase the piano at a reduced price.
- Corsham Youth Zone and Local Youth Network - The RISE Trust Youth requested £5,000.00 for the Corsham Youth Zone and Local Youth Network. The Corsham Youth Zone offers a youth club for young people aged 11-18 on Friday nights at Springfield Community Campus. The grant would be used to re-ignite the Local Youth Network in Corsham.
