The Culture and Environment Scrutiny Committee is scheduled to meet to discuss the Climate Action Plan 2026-2030, receive an annual update on the Camden Transport Strategy, and hear from the Cabinet Member for Planning and a Sustainable Camden. They will also be reviewing their work programme for the 2025/26 municipal year.

Climate Action Plan 2026-2030

The committee will be presented with the Climate Action Plan 2026-2030 for consideration. The report pack states that the plan builds upon the previous Climate Action Plan 2020-25 and the Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan 2023-25. It aims to tackle the climate crisis and build resilience, while also addressing social, economic, and health inequalities in Camden. The plan is described as the result of an extensive public engagement exercise that continued the approach established by Camden's 2019 Citizens' Assembly on the climate crisis.

The report pack includes the Climate Action Plan 2026-2030, a summary of consultation responses, an equality impact assessment, and the Climate Action Plan_Climate Adaptation Resilience Plan Annual Review 2023-24.

The plan outlines outcomes and actions across seven priority areas. It recognises the council's role in leading and enabling climate action, noting that while the council directly controls about a third of borough-wide emissions, it can also foster conditions for environmentally sustainable investment.

The 2023-24 annual review of the Climate Action Plan 2020-25 is also included in the report pack, after being deferred from a previous meeting in February 2024.

Camden Transport Strategy Annual Update

The committee will receive an annual update on the Camden Transport Strategy (CTS). The Camden Transport Strategy was adopted in April 2019, and this report will summarise progress and challenges in delivering the 3 year Delivery Plan covering the period 2025/26 to 2027/28.
