Summary
The Court of Aldermen convened to address a variety of civic matters, including votes of thanks, resolutions, and the admission of new Freemen to the City of London. The meeting also included the swearing in of a Bridgemaster and a report from the General Purposes Committee of Aldermen.
Applications for the Freedom of the City
The Court was scheduled to consider applications for the Freedom of the City1 from a number of individuals. The Chamberlain presented the names of eighty-five people to be made free of the City. The applicants came from a range of backgrounds and professions, including:
