Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Camden and are not the council. About us
The Health and Wellbeing Board meeting scheduled for 17 December 2025 was set to cover a range of critical public health and safeguarding issues. Key discussions were planned around health protection updates, annual reports from safeguarding partnerships, strategies for addressing homelessness and drug-related harm, and the Board's future work programme. The meeting aimed to provide updates on current health challenges, review the effectiveness of safeguarding measures for both children and adults, and outline strategic approaches to complex issues facing the borough.
Health Protection Update
The Director of Public Health was scheduled to provide an update on health protection issues and epidemiology within Camden. This report would have covered the latest available data on circulating viruses, such as influenza and COVID-19, as well as information on norovirus and measles cases. It was also expected to detail any adverse weather alerts and the council's response, such as the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP).
Camden Safeguarding Partnerships: Annual Reports 2024-25
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing the annual reports from Camden's two key safeguarding partnerships: the Camden Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP) and the Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board (SAPB). These reports were intended to provide an overview of their governance, performance, and any learning from serious case reviews. The discussions were expected to highlight priorities for 2025/26 and identify shared strategic priorities between these partnerships and the Health and Wellbeing Board, aiming to foster learning opportunities across all partnerships.
Homelessness System Partnership
The Board was scheduled to receive an update on the Homelessness System Partnership's efforts to implement a more integrated and relational approach to addressing homelessness in Camden. The report was to detail the homeless population in Camden, the factors contributing to multiple disadvantage, and insights gathered from residents about their experiences with services. It was also to outline the Partnership's approach, including its focus on co-production, and detail progress made against its priorities, achievements, and future next steps.
Reducing Drug Related Harm
An update was planned on the Health and Wellbeing Board's priority of reducing drug-related harm. This report was to cover data and intelligence gaps, Camden's strategic response to drug-related incidents, and identify challenges and opportunities. The Board was expected to consider actions that could be taken by individuals, teams, and organisations to address this issue.
Work Programme of the Health and Wellbeing Board
The Board was to review its provisional work programme for 2025/26. This document, developed by Board members and partners, is intended to be a working document that guides future discussions and strategic planning. The Board was to be asked to note the draft programme and suggest any additional items for inclusion in future meetings.
The meeting was scheduled to include standard procedural items such as apologies, declarations of interest, and the confirmation of previous minutes. There were no private reports scheduled for discussion.
