January 20, 2026 at 7:00 pm View on council websiteSummary
The Ealing Safer Neighbourhood Board was scheduled to discuss updates on police operations and ongoing projects. The meeting's agenda included a review of previous minutes and a forward look at future meetings.
Police Update and Q&A
The board was scheduled to receive an update from the police, followed by a question and answer session. This update was expected to cover various police operations and initiatives aimed at enhancing safety within Ealing. Based on previous meetings, these updates have included details on operations targeting motor vehicle theft, fraud, and shoplifting, as well as efforts to combat modern slavery and violence against women and girls. The previous meeting's police report also highlighted the use of data-driven approaches, such as the V100 initiative, to identify and address risks to women and girls, and the deployment of officers in areas of concern through operations like Operation Verona. The effectiveness of digital engagement platforms like MetEngage was also a topic of discussion in the past.
Projects Update and the Future of the Safer Neighbourhood Board (SNB)
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to an update on ongoing projects and the future direction of the Safer Neighbourhood Board (SNB). In previous discussions, the board had noted delays in receiving funding from the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC). It was proposed to utilise the board's historic surplus funds to support projects while awaiting MOPAC's allocation.
The report pack indicated that the Sev Necati Training project would not be put forward for MOPAC funding due to previous high levels of funding and the availability of support from other SNBs. Additionally, the Znaniye Foundation project was not proceeding as planned due to a change in leadership, and an alternative, the Anti-Violence Community Festival, was being considered, subject to further consultation.
The remaining projects that were scheduled to be discussed included:
- The Gauntlet Flight Academy
- Survivors Guide (EASE)
- Creative Connection at Open Havelock
The report pack noted that the leads for these three projects remained keen to commence their work and receive funding. The potential for delays in MOPAC funding could impact the project completion deadlines.
Date of Next Meeting
The board was scheduled to confirm the date of its next meeting, which was set for 24 March 2026.
