The Safeguarding and Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to consider the Staffordshire Community Safety Strategy and the SACRE Annual Report. The committee was also due to review its work programme for the upcoming year.
Staffordshire Community Safety Strategy
The committee was scheduled to review the proposed Staffordshire Community Safety Strategy. This strategy aims to address crime and disorder across the county, with a focus on collaboration between various agencies. The report pack indicated that the strategy would outline key priorities and actions to enhance community safety.
The strategy document, titled Community Safety Strategy, was accompanied by Appendix 1 - Community Safety Strategy and Appendix 2 - CIA. The Community Impact Assessment (CIA) within Appendix 2 would detail the potential effects of the strategy on different groups within the community. A recommendation was made to approve the strategy, though it is not known if this recommendation was followed.
SACRE Annual Report
The committee was also scheduled to consider the SACRE Annual Report. SACRE stands for the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education1. This report would typically provide an overview of the council's work in relation to religious education in schools over the past year. It would likely cover topics such as curriculum development, teacher training, and the promotion of interfaith understanding.
Work Programme 2025-26
The committee was due to review its Work Programme 2025-26. This document outlines the planned activities and topics for scrutiny by the committee over the next municipal year. It helps to ensure that the committee focuses on key areas of council policy and performance relevant to safeguarding and education.
