Tynedale Community Partnership - Tuesday, 27th January, 2026 5.00 pm
January 27, 2026 at 5:00 pm View on council websiteSummary
The Tynedale Community Partnership is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, 27 January 2026. The meeting agenda includes a discussion on a petition requesting a 20mph speed limit in Ovingham, an update on policing and community safety, and appointments to outside bodies.
Ovingham 20mph Speed Limit Petition
A significant item on the agenda is the consideration of a petition requesting the introduction of a 20mph speed limit in Ovingham. The petition, which gathered 87 signatures, calls for a full consultation to reduce the speed limit in the village to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
However, a report prepared for the meeting indicates that the council does not currently plan to introduce a 20mph speed limit throughout Ovingham. The report states that latest speed surveys carried out in December again suggest there is not a speeding concern at this time in the village.
It also notes that a scheme to improve village gateways was completed in August 2025, and advisory 20 when lights flash
signage is already in place outside Ovingham First and Middle School. The report highlights that in the last three years there have been no personal injury collisions in the village
according to accident data from Northumbria Police. The council's policy is to introduce 20mph limits outside all schools, which has been implemented at Ovingham First and Middle Schools. The report concludes that The Council does not therefore intend to fund any further improvements to address speeding concerns in Ovingham through the Local Transport Plan programme at this time.
Policing and Community Safety Update
Inspector Kate Benson of Neighbourhood Policing (Rural) is scheduled to attend to provide an update on policing matters within the Tynedale area. Members of the Partnership will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding local policing and community safety initiatives.
Appointments to Outside Bodies
The Partnership will be asked to confirm if members wish to continue as appointees to various outside bodies. These appointments were previously agreed by the Tynedale Local Area Council on 21 May 2024 and 9 July 2024. Some appointments, including those for the Northumberland Bus Board, Prudhoe Community Partnership, and Queens Hall Arts Trust, were deferred at the meeting on 16 September 2025 and will be revisited.
Informal Discussion Session
An informal discussion session is planned, featuring representatives from the Regeneration Team to discuss Healthy High Streets.
Additionally, officers from the Strategic Transport Team will be present to discuss the Hexham to Corbridge Active Travel Corridor.
The meeting will also include standard agenda items such as apologies for absence, the notes of the previous meeting, and public question time. The Partnership will also receive any new petitions and consider reports on previously received petitions, including the Twenty's Plenty for Ovingham
petition.
