The Health and Social Care Scrutiny Commission was scheduled to discuss several key health-related topics, including presentations on menopause and nursing care home space standards. The commission was also set to receive an update on access to toilets and review its work programme.

Menopause

The commission was scheduled to receive a presentation on menopause from Mr Haitham Hamoda MD FRCOG, a Consultant Gynaecologist and Clinical Lead for the Menopause Service at King's College Hospital. Mr Hamoda is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College London and a Trustee and Past Chair of the British Menopause Society. Following his presentation, the local NHS was expected to provide an overview of menopause and current local practices.

Nursing Care Home Space Standards

A presentation was scheduled to be given by Dr Martin QUIRKE, a Senior Architect (DSDC) and Lecturer in Design for Ageing and Dementia at the University of Stirling. Dr Quirke was due to attend the meeting virtually to discuss nursing care home space standards.

Access to Toilets - Update

The commission was scheduled to receive an update on the ongoing work regarding access to toilets.

Work Programme

The commission was also due to discuss its work programme, which would include the discussion of any other open items notified at the start of the meeting. A document titled Work Programme covering report was available, alongside a Workplan document.

The meeting was scheduled to be chaired by Councillor Suzanne Abachor, with Councillor Maria Linforth-Hall serving as Vice-Chair. Other members of the commission scheduled to attend included Councillor Esme Dobson, Councillor Sandra Rhule, Councillor Nick Johnson, Councillor Charlie Smith, and Councillor Naima Ali.
