Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Hounslow and are not the council. About us
The Hanworth Area Forum was scheduled to discuss a range of local issues, including environmental findings, community initiatives, and responses to resident questions. The meeting also included a presentation on a public health initiative and an update on ongoing action plans.
Environment Agency Portlane Brook Findings
The meeting was scheduled to include a community spotlight on the findings of the Environment Agency regarding Portlane Brook. This would have provided an opportunity for residents to understand the environmental health of the brook and any related concerns or actions being taken.
Smoke Free Generation Presentation
A presentation on the Smoke Free Generation
initiative was scheduled. This public health campaign aims to prevent children from starting to smoke by creating an environment where smoking is not the norm.
Response to Open Forum Questions
The forum was set to address questions raised by the public during the previous meeting on 16th October 2025. This agenda item allows for follow-up on issues previously brought to the council's attention by residents.
Open Forum
An open forum was scheduled, providing a platform for members of the public to raise matters of local concern directly with the Area Forum. While detailed discussions might not always be possible, points raised were intended to inform the forum's work.
Action Plan
An update on the council's action plan was on the agenda. This typically involves reviewing progress on previously agreed initiatives and addressing any new priorities or challenges. The previous meeting's action plan updates included items such as Muller Roundabout, traffic calming measures on Green Lane, and redirecting school buses to ease traffic congestion.
Community Spotlight: Backstreet Dojo
The meeting was scheduled to feature a community spotlight on Backstreet Dojo, a martial arts centre based at the Hanworth Centre. Tony Newman, the founder and coach, was expected to present on the centre's offerings, which include BJJ, Karate, Kickboxing, and MMA for all ages and abilities. The presentation was also to highlight the dojo's focus on building physical strength, confidence, and mental resilience, as well as mentioning recent achievements and a royal visit from Prince William.
Informal Marketplace
Prior to the formal meeting, an informal marketplace was scheduled. This provided an opportunity for residents to engage with council services and community groups, who would be showcasing their work, recruiting support, and distributing information. Refreshments were also to be available.
The meeting was also scheduled to cover standard procedural items, including a welcome and introductions, the election of a Vice-Chair, apologies for absence, declarations of interest, and the confirmation of minutes from the previous meeting held on 16th October 2025. The date of the next meeting, scheduled for 16th April 2026, was also to be confirmed.
