The Planning Committee of North Northamptonshire Council met on Wednesday 11 February 2026, where they deferred a decision on a proposed children's care home and granted permission for CCTV cameras in a local park. The committee also approved reserved matters for the conversion of a former court service building into flats.
Application 16 Ironwood Avenue, Desborough (25/00920/FUL)
A decision on the application to change the use of a dwelling at 16 Ironwood Avenue, Desborough from a residential dwelling (Use Class C3) to a children's care home (Use Class C2) was deferred. The meeting minutes state that the application was re-ordered on the agenda, and due to a technical error, letters had not been sent to objectors in time for them to apply to address the meeting. Consequently, the recommendation was to defer the item to allow objectors the opportunity to make representations at a future committee meeting. This decision was unanimously carried.
Application HM Court Service, Dryden Street, Kettering (25/01310/REM)
The committee granted planning permission for reserved matters relating to access and landscaping for the conversion of the former HM Court Service building at Dryden Street, Kettering into 14 flats. The application was brought to committee as the council is the landowner. No objections were received from the public. The committee considered the application to be good and appropriate, believing the proposals would enhance the area. The decision was carried unanimously.
Application Play Area Spring Rise, Kettering (25/01193/FUL)
Permission was granted for the installation of two CCTV cameras at Spring Rise Park, Kettering. The application was presented to the committee as the council is the applicant, and no objections had been received. Members of the committee fully supported the introduction of monitored CCTV, citing a previous serious incident at the site and believing it would enhance public safety. An additional informative was added to the resolution, confirming that any footage could be used as evidence if required. The decision was carried unanimously.
