The Planning Committee of Doncaster Council met on Tuesday 10 February 2026 to discuss several planning applications and review enforcement activity. The meeting's agenda included applications for a football training centre, new housing developments, and the erection of dwellings. Additionally, the committee was scheduled to receive an update on planning enforcement cases from the third quarter of 2025/26 and review appeal decisions.
Football Training Centre Proposed for Bawtry
The committee was scheduled to consider an application for the erection of buildings and sports pitches to form a football training centre at Land North of Martin Grange Farm, Bawtry. The proposed development includes elite, professional, and community facilities, along with user accommodation, landscaping, access, and parking. The application attracted a significant number of public representations, with 77 received in total, comprising 39 in support and 35 objections. Key issues raised included the proposal's location within the Green Belt, potential impacts on residential amenity, highways and traffic, ecology, heritage, and design. The report recommended granting planning permission subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement and the imposition of planning conditions.
Housing Developments in Skellow and Auckley
Two major housing developments were scheduled for discussion. The first, at Land off Crabgate Lane, Skellow, proposed the erection of 200 dwellings, including access, infrastructure, landscaping, public open space, and parking. This application, submitted by Bellway Homes Ltd (Yorkshire), received 571 letters of objection. Concerns raised by objectors included the type and density of housing, impact on local services, ecology, design, amenity, noise, air quality, flooding, traffic, and archaeology. The report recommended granting planning permission subject to a Section 106 agreement and planning conditions.
The second housing application, for Land East of Hurst Lane, Auckley, proposed the erection of 34 dwellings, amenity space, access road, footways, drainage infrastructure, and the diversion of a public right of way. This development, proposed by South Yorkshire Housing Association Ltd, is intended to be 100% affordable housing for affordable rent. The application was noted as a departure from the development plan due to its location within the Countryside Policy Area. Despite some concerns regarding site density and planning obligations, the report recommended granting planning permission, subject to a Section 106 legal agreement and planning conditions.
Appeal Decisions and Planning Enforcement Update
The committee was also scheduled to receive a report on appeal decisions, noting decisions made by the Planning Inspectorate. Additionally, a Planning Enforcement Quarterly Report for December 2025 was to be presented, detailing case updates, prosecution cases, injunctions, notices served, appeals, S215 notices, general cases, and examples of unauthorised advertisements. This report provided an overview of enforcement activity during the third quarter of 2025/26.
