Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Bexley and are not the council. About us
The Planning Committee of Bexley Council was scheduled to discuss three planning applications for development. These included a retrospective application for a change of use to a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) in Sidcup, the erection of padel courts at Crook Log Sports Centre, and a new dwelling with extensions at 82 Selwyn Crescent in Welling.
22 Stanhope Road, Sidcup, Kent, DA15 7HA
The committee was scheduled to consider a retrospective application for the change of use of a six-bedroom dwelling at 22 Stanhope Road, Sidcup, Kent, DA15 7HA, to a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) for up to five people. The application also included proposals for a single-storey rear extension, the demolition of an existing rear extension, the installation of solar panels, and new vehicle parking at the front. The report pack indicated that the proposal was recommended for approval, subject to conditions. Key considerations included the principle of development, the impact on the character and appearance of the Christ Church Conservation Area, neighbouring amenity, quality of accommodation, highway safety, waste management, and cycle storage. The report noted that the property had reportedly been operating as an HMO for over 20 years, and the application sought to regularise this use.
Crook Log Sports Centre, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA7 4HH
The committee was scheduled to review an application for the erection of four padel courts with associated glass panels, fencing, and an all-weather canopy at Crook Log Sports Centre, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA7 4HH. The report pack recommended granting planning permission, subject to conditions. The main issues for discussion were the principle of development, the impact on the character and appearance of the site and surrounding area, ecology and biodiversity net gain, neighbouring amenity, and highways. The proposed courts would be located on an ancillary area of green space within the sports centre site. The report highlighted that the development would enhance the range of sports facilities available and that a health impact assessment had been submitted.
82 Selwyn Crescent, Welling, Kent, DA16 2AN
The committee was scheduled to consider an application for the erection of a part one/part two storey rear extension and alterations to fenestration, along with an attached two-storey dwelling with refuse storage and parking to the front, at 82 Selwyn Crescent, Welling, Kent, DA16 2AN. The report pack recommended granting planning permission, subject to conditions. The primary considerations were the impact on the character and appearance of the area, the quality of accommodation for future occupiers, the effect on neighbouring properties, and the impact on parking and highway safety. The proposal aimed to create an additional one-bedroom dwelling on a site that had previously been converted into two apartments. The report noted that a similar previous application had been refused.
