Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Greenwich and are not the council. About us
The Inclusive Economy and Culture Scrutiny Panel was scheduled to receive an operational update from the community organisation Tramshed. The panel was also due to review the minutes from a previous meeting and discuss declarations of interest.
Operational Update from Tramshed
The panel was scheduled to receive an update on how Tramshed, a community organisation, is responding to challenges within the creative sector. These challenges include the ongoing impact of the pandemic, the cost of living crisis, and the previous government's decision to move funding away from London. The report pack indicated that Tramshed has been working to adapt its operations, including reducing programme and staffing costs, collaborating with partners, and evidencing its social value. The organisation has also set new financial targets, aiming to increase earned income significantly. Tramshed's Key Performance Indicators for 2024/25 showed strong engagement figures across various programmes, including youth theatre and activities for adults with learning disabilities. The organisation has also seen an increase in the number of artists benefiting from its support and a substantial number of beneficiaries attending its events and classes. Despite rising inflation, which has increased the cost of goods and services, Tramshed has been working to secure new funding streams and has seen success in generating income through services like those provided by Achates. The update was expected to detail Tramshed's efforts to secure funding from bodies such as the Heritage Fund, the Mayor of London, and Arts Council England.
Declarations of Interest
The panel was scheduled to review a list of councillors' memberships on outside bodies, joint committees, and school governing bodies. Members were reminded of the council's Constitution and Code of Conduct regarding the declaration of personal and financial interests. A personal interest is defined as one that is likely to affect the member, a relevant person, or a relevant body more than a majority of those in the ward the member represents. A financial interest is one that relates to or is likely to affect an interest set out in paragraph 18 of the Code of Conduct. Members were required to declare the existence and nature of any such interests at the start of the meeting or when they become apparent.
Minutes of Previous Meeting
The panel was scheduled to confirm the accuracy of the minutes from the meeting held on 19 February 2026.
