The current licence permits a range of activities including the sale of alcohol, the playing of recorded and live music, and late-night refreshment, with varying hours for the ground floor and basement areas.

The proposed variation was to remove condition 8 from Annex 2 of the existing licence and replace it with new wording concerning music noise limiting devices. The application stated that these devices would be installed and their maximum sound levels set and secured to the satisfaction of the Noise Team for both the ground floor and basement of the premises. The noise limiting devices were to be set according to measurements outlined in a report dated 13 March 2026 by RBA Acoustics. The application also noted that the sound limiters and noise levels would be re-assessed if a substantiated noise complaint was received by an Authorised Council Officer. Crucially, all other licensable activities, permitted hours, opening hours, and conditions were to remain as existing, with no increase to the licensed area or capacity.
