Approval of response to the Government
consultation on the proposed changes to the National Planning
Policy Framework
Reasons for the decision
On 30 July 2024, the Government released an
eight week consultation on the proposed reforms to the National
Planning Policy Framework.
When Local Plans are prepared by Local
Planning Authorities, they must be in accordance with the National
Planning Policy Framework (and supporting Planning Policy Guidance)
which sets out the Government’s core planning policies on
issues such as housing, economic development, the natural and
historic environment and transport.
Providing a response to this consultation
allows the Council the opportunity to shape the future of the
national planning system.
Alternative options considered
To not respond to the consultation on proposed
changes to the National Planning Policy Framework.
