The Standards Committee promotes and maintains high standards of conduct within the Council, including advising on adopting or revising to the code of conduct; and monitoring and advising on how effective the code of conduct is in the light of best practice and changes in the law. It comprises 6 members appointed by Council, one who is independent (i.e. not a councillor but yet to be appointed), and three parish council representatives. Many standards issues are delegated to the Council’s Monitoring Officer to deal with on behalf of the Committee.
