Standards Committee promotes and maintains high standards of behaviour by ensuring all elected members comply with the council’s code of conduct. A copy of the code of conduct from members can be found in part 5 of the Council’s Constitution. If a complaint is received about a member of Hastings Borough Council the committee may have to assess and investigate the case on advice from the Monitoring Officer. Full Standards Committee meetings are normally open for the public to attend, depending on the sensitivity of the complaint.
