Standards and Governance Committee

The Standards and Governance Committee is responsible for promoting high standards of conduct amongst councillors and co-opted members and high standards of governance across the Council.  It advises the Council on changes to the Code of Conduct and monitors complaints made about Councillors and Co-opted Members. It also investigates complaints that a Councillor or Co-opted Member has breached the Code of Conduct and can impose sanctions where a complaint is upheld. When investigating complaints the Committee will be advised by an Independent Person who will provide an independent perspective on the complaint.  The Committee has 8 members appointed to reflect the political balance of the Council.
