Audit and Risk Committee

The Audit and Risk Committee provide independent assurance to the Council and the Cabinet of the adequacy of the overall corporate governance and internal control environments including the associated approach to risk management, independent scrutiny of the authority’s financial and non-financial performance to the extent that it affects the authority’s exposure to risk and weaknesses in the control environment, as well as to oversee the financial reporting process.   As well as elected Councillors The Council may also appoint at least one Independent Co-Opted Member to the Committee. Independent Members will be non-voting and appointed for an unpaid term of up to four years.
