Purpose

Introduce a timed school streets closure and amend the hours of operation of the timed closure on the existing road

Decision

That:

  1. The school street proposal detailed in the design drawing to this report and summarised in paragraph 13 implemented by way of powers under the Highways Act 1980 (“1980 Act”), the Road Traffic Regulation Act (“1984”), and orders made under 1984 Act, subject to the outcome of any necessary statutory consultation and procedures be approved by the Cabinet Member for Clean Air, Streets and Waste.
  2. The necessary Traffic Management Orders (“TMOs”) in accordance with sections 6 and 124 of the 1984 Act subject to statutory consultation carried out pursuant to the Local Authorities Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 (“1996 Regulations”) be carried out as instructed by the Cabinet Member for Clean Air, Streets and Waste.
  3. The necessary statutory consultation for the proposed School Street at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, and Goodrich Community School in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all relevant statutory requirements be carried out by officers as instructed by the Cabinet Member for Clean Air, Streets and Waste.
  4. In the event objections to the Traffic Management Orders (TMOs) for the proposed School Street at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School and Goodrich Community School are received following statutory consultation a further report will be presented to The Cabinet Member for determination and be noted by the Cabinet Member for Clean Air, Streets and Waste.
