West Surrey Voluntary Joint Committee

The West Surrey Voluntary Joint Committee is a governance body created as part of the Local Government Reorganisation process in Surrey. The Committee was established voluntarily by Surrey County Council and the six borough and district councils which form the West Surrey area – Woking, Guildford, Waverley, Surrey Heath, Spelthorne, and Runnymede – under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972. The Committee acts as a shadow governance structure ahead of the formal Structural Changes Order, which is expected to come into force in March 2026. The Committee is scheduled to meet on the following dates:
m 16 January 2026 12pm – 1.30pm – Woking Borough Council
m 18 February 2026 1pm – 3pm – Spelthorne Borough Council
m 13 March 2026 10am – 12pm – Elmbridge Borough Council
m 14 April 2026 10am – 2pm – Surrey Heath Borough Council
