Purpose: The Allocation Policy proposes a number of amendments from the last time it was reviewed in 2021. This is considering government announcements, new guidance in relation to armed forces, victims of domestic violence and eligible relevant and former care leavers and also working to maximise the use of any available empty properties, against a growing demand and reducing supply. The report seeks Cabinet approval for the new proposed Council’s Housing Allocation Policy (Appendix 1)

Content: The Committee has considered a report detailing proposed amendments to the Housing Allocation Policy following its last review held in 2021, taking into account government announcements, new guidance in relation to armed forces, victims of domestic violence and eligible relevant and former care leavers and also working to maximise the use of any available empty properties, against a growing demand and reducing supply, and has:-   (1) Noted the proposed changes to the Council’s Housing Allocation Policy   (2) Given approval to the proposed new Council’s Housing Allocation Policy as detailed at Appendix 1 to the report.
