CE S588 Hackney's Education Strategic Plan 2026 to 2029
Decision Maker: Cabinet
Outcome: For Determination
Is Key Decision?: Yes
Is Callable In?: No
Date of Decision: December 15, 2025
Purpose: The 3-year education strategic plan builds upon Hackney's strong educational foundation. It addresses the current challenges facing our schools and settings, including falling rolls, a rise in the number of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), high exclusion rates, and the financial stability of our educational institutions. This strategic plan is designed to provide comprehensive support for all children, families, schools, and settings within Hackney. Our central vision is to enhance life opportunities and overall well-being for every child through an "ambitious, anti-racist, inclusive" education system that cultivates a strong sense of belonging. Our key commitments within this strategy include a strong focus on anti-racism, fostering meaningful partnerships with parents and carers, and promoting collaborative working relationships with all education providers. This strategic plan makes clear the need to work together, harnessing the incredible talent in Hackney schools and settings, to continue to build a sustainable education system that is both ambitious and inclusive for all.
