Decision
Fareham Housing draft Damp & Mould Policy - Consultation and updated changes to Repairs Policy
Decision Maker: Executive
Outcome: For Determination
Is Key Decision?: Yes
Is Callable In?: Yes
Date of Decision: January 7, 2026
Purpose: To seek Executive approval for the draft Fareham Housing Damp and Mould Policy to go forward for six weeks public consultation. To seek Executive approval of the revised Fareham Housing Repairs Policy to align with the timescales in the new draft Fareham Housing Damp and Mould Policy. The report details the legislation around treatment of damp and mould in social housing. It outlines the contents of the Fareham Housing Damp and Mould Policy and the associated updates required to the existing Repairs Policy. Approval is sought for a six-week period of public consultation to be undertaken prior to the Damp and Mould Policy returning to the Executive for formal adoption. An ‘easy read’ document accompanies the Policy and will form part of the consultation. This is to ensure the key points can be communicated effectively to the Council’s social housing tenants.
Content: RESOLVED that the Executive: (a) approves the Draft Fareham Housing Damp and Mould Policy to move forward for a period of public consultation; (b) agrees that any minor changes to the Policy prior to public consultation are delegated to the Director of Housing and Health following consultation with the Executive Member for Housing; (c) approves the revisions in the Fareham Housing Repairs Policy and accompanying Easy Read; and (d) approves to delegate authority to make minor amendments as needed to the Repairs Policy, such as in response to future updates to Government guidance or corrections, to the Director of Housing and Health, following consultation with the Executive Member for Housing.
