Decision

Fire Safety in Houses of Multiple Occupation - Service Level Agreement

Decision Maker: Cabinet

Outcome: Recommendations Approved

Is Key Decision?: Yes

Is Callable In?: No

Date of Decision: January 14, 2026

Purpose: To seek Cabinet's approval for a Service Level Agreement with Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service

Content: Decision   RESOLVED that Cabinet:   1.1) approved the Head of Strategic Housing and Housing Services to sign the Service Level Agreement in Appendix 1. 1.2) agreed that approval of additional changes to the Service Level Agreement be delegated to the Head of Strategic Housing and Housing Services in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Housing and Housing Development and Assistant Director - Legal and Democratic Services.   Reasons for decision   The Service Level Agreement provided guidance for the Hertfordshire Fire Service and Hertsmere Borough Council’s Housing Enforcement Officers when working in the same environment. It clearly identified which service has the responsibility.   Each Hertfordshire Local Authority and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service have contributed to the Service Level Agreement and were asked to sign the Agreement.   Alternative Options Considered   Cabinet could have decided not to approve the Service Level Agreement. This was not recommended as it would not promote effective joint working with Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to improve fire safety in Houses of Multiple Occupation.
