Purpose:

Content: Decision   RESOLVED that Cabinet agreed the recruitment of an Events Officer on a 2 year fixed term contract with the funding for the post @ circa £52,620 to be allocated from the contingency budget within the 2026/27 Revenue Budget.   Reasons for decision   The Council makes a significant contribution to place shaping through supporting cultural, community and other events across the Borough. These functions are currently delivered in an ad hoc and uncoordinated way across several departments (Streetscene, Asset Management, Policy and Partnerships, Environmental Health and also via Inspireall). A specific Events Officer would ensure efficient coordination of Council events as well as the many community and cultural events that the Council supports:   -          Festive and seasonal -          Council led and regular events -          One–off and strategic events -          Communications, cultural and commemoration   The post holder would also be expected to seek sponsorship for events.   Alternative Options Considered   Cabinet could have chosen not to agree to support this role however this would have meant that the Council’s ability to support such events would remain constrained and subject to risk.
